The Serbs respected the will of the people of the Crimea who have voted for entry into Russia. This was told by the President of Republika Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik in an exclusive interview to the correspondent of “Izvestia”. Mr. President is on an official visit to Moscow.
“Crimea become a part of Russia by right of the referendum and the willpower of the people should be respected. The Crimean issue has been resolved,” — said Dodik.
From his perspective the West follows a double standard policy, not recognizing the will of the people of the Crimea, but recognizing the will of Albanians in Kosovo, who actually became of Serbia.
Dodik believes that the need for Europe to lift sanctions against Russia and return to normal dialogue, including at the self-proclaimed republics LPR and DPR.
He added that the Serbs have always been on the side of Russia and the position of the Republika Srpska did not allow the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to impose sanctions on Russia.
Dodik said that during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov in Moscow the political situation in the Balkans and bilateral relations were discussed. From his perspective is difficult to overestimate Russia’s role on the Peninsula and the Serbs consider Russians fraternal people.
